Although Congress extended RECA to make sure it didn’t expire, many of those harmed by U.S. nuclear tests, production, and uranium mining are still not eligible for compensation.

Past bills, the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act Amendments of 2021, would extend RECA beyond 2022 and expand coverage to communities exposed to radiation that have so far been excluded.
